This week is all about Fashion!

OFW is Oxford's first (annual?) Fashion Week, based on the models of London, Paris and New York Fashion week's. It claims to be "the most spectacular series of fashion events in the UK outside of London."

And what a week it is shaping up to be!
With the Launch party last night and the Exhibition Show this evening, I couldn't help but be blown away.

Perhaps I take this view because I am hardly the stuff of high fashion, what with my primark clothes and "womanly" tummy. Rubbing shoulders with child protege Eleanor Hardwick was a sobering task, least of all because she could talk better than me!

The Exhibition show at the Jam Factory included works from several artists and photographers, including the 15 year old Eleanor Hardwick, Reza Ebadi, O. Yoranov, Eliza Faulkner (personal fav) and John Cooper amongst others.
The space was small, but intimate, although much standing around awkwardly in my nervous state....the free cocktails helped!
I managed to speak with the project Co-ordinator of Oxford Fashion Week,Carl Anglim whom I was told was the creative brains behind the week.
I also managed to speak to a few of the models for the evening who were wearing sustainable fashion gear. Trading for development is a pioneering company who specialise in fair trade garments. The dresses modelled this evening included two Peruvian Cotton jersey dresses featuring a cowl neck and an adapted scarf dress from Bangladesh.
Although the clothes may be sustainable, they were hardly suitable for every day wear, which was a little disappointing, but I suppose with exhibitions at Milan and Pairs Fashion week we can except a few more practical pieces in the future

Tomorrow is the Concept Show....
FREE DRINKS + BESPOKE SWEET CANAPES + FIRE THROWERS + BODY ARTIST + DRESSING UP BOX + SURPRISES AND TREATS

Notice the all important Free Drink being listed first,,,,pity I can't take full advantage of that till Wednesday.....
Well, an interesting show this week....discussion of Swine Flu and it's transmission as an STD
and a healthy debate on Apple's "Baby Shaker" iphone application....

Jesse Harber joined me in the studio and as I'm sure you will agree was fantastic.

Next week I am covering Oxford's Fashion Week! So appropriately I have "Fashion" as my theme.
Expect some interesting interviews with stylists, models and designers as well as a return of Mr Harber! And his "lefty soap box"
